THE DREAM FULFILLED!

The year is 1992.  Doug Smith, father of Meghann Marie, is hit by a drunk driver.  His two-year-old daughter dubbed, “Daddy’s Little Cowgirl”, decides she wants to be a cop. Two years later, she is more specific.  She wants to be a DPS officer because they patrol the highways, and besides, she really does love that hat.

Fourteen years later, Meghann herself is killed by a drunk driver.  But her dream did not die that tragic October day.  On August 15, 2010, at a benefit in Montgomery, Texas, the DPS made it official.  Meghann was named an honorary DPS trooper.  Relive that day with the pictures below that were taken of this memorable event.  The dream come true!
